So who is out there?

Top of the list and the favorite for the job for sure would be former Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks who oh just happened to coach up free agent prize to be and local product Kevin Durant for many years with the Thunder. If the Wizards land Brooks, the #KD2DC hype machine would go into overdrive. The Wizards will have tons of money to go after Durant, one of the best players in the league and other free agents as well.

Brooks helped guide Durant and the Thunder to the NBA Finals in 2012 so he has had some success. Other teams could be in the hunt though for Brooks, so it's not a slam dunk that he ends up in D.C. If the Wizards do hire Brooks, it would be very obvious that they are going all in getting Durant.

Another possibility is former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau who is very defensive minded which is a portion of the game the Wizards at times lacked sorely in their 41-41 season. Thibodeau is a no-nonsense old school coach who would bring a different presence to the sideline. He was actually hired as an assistant years ago in D.C., when Eddie Jordan was head coach but he abruptly left after only a few days on the job. Who knows if that would have any impact on him being considered but at this point, the Wizards need to seriously consider Thibodeau.

Some other possible candidates could be former Warriors and current broadcaster Mark Jackson, former Phoenix and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni and former Suns coach Jeff Hornacek. Also, the Wizards could make a run at national champion Villanova coach Jay Wright who recently left the door open as to considering an NBA gig.

Unlike in past years, the Wizards job is a very attractive one with all-star guard John Wall and up and coming shooting guard Bradley Beal in the fold. Expect a pretty quick maneuver to get a coach in place well ahead of free agency which starts July 1.

It should be an interesting summer.
