Simone Facey Wins First Aggie Medal in Rio

Former Texas A&M sprinter Simone Facey became the first Aggie to win a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games, as part of the silver medal-winning 4x100 meter relay team from Jamaica.

Former Texas A&M sprinter Simone Facey became the first Aggie to win a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games, as part of the silver medal-winning 4x100 meter relay team from Jamaica.

Facey did not run in Friday's finals, but her participation in the prelims on Friday earned her a medal.

Also in the women's 4x100 meter relay were Jennifer Madu and Olivia Ekpone of Nigeria. They finished in eighth place.

In the men's 4x400 meter relay, Deon Lendore and Trinidad & Tobago thought they had advanced to Saturday's finals with a second place finish in heat 1, but they were disqualified and did not advance. Demetrius Pinder will run for the Bahamas in the finals of the 4x400 after he did not run in the prelims.

In the men's basketball semifinals, DeAndre Jordan had his best game as an Olympian in an 82-76 Team USA win over Spain to earn a spot in the Gold Medal game.Jordan scored 9 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked four shots in 27 minutes.
