Sean Taylor was known for his ability to intercept opposing quarterbacks. On the anniversary of his passing, his brother did the same.

Gabe Taylor sealed the game against Louisiana Tech by intercepting JD Head's pass with just under 30 seconds remaining.

HOUSTON, Texas — A well-timed play this weekend added a fitting new chapter to a football family known for its defensive playmakers.

Gabe Taylor, younger brother of former Washington Football team's legendary Sean Taylor, intercepted a pass on Saturday to beat Louisiana Tech in their regular-season finale in Houston, Tx.

The most interesting part, however, was when it happened.

Nov. 27 is a somber day of remembrance for NFL fans across the country and especially for the Taylor family. Saturday was the 14th anniversary of Sean Taylor's death. It was also the day Sean's younger brother Gabe, a defensive back for the Rice University Owls, caught the game-deciding turnover. A timely tribute to his late ball-hawking brother.

Taylor has been a playmaker for Rice all season long. The freshman from Miami ranked second on the team with three interceptions and forced a fumble in October. He earned Conference USA Player of the Week and the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award for his 10-tackle performance against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Blazers.

Just hours earlier, the Washington Football team announced the installation and dedication of a physical memorial for Taylor called the Sean Taylor Memorial Project, set to launch on Sean's Birthday -- April 1, 2022.

Earlier this year, Washington retired Taylor's jersey in a ceremony during halftime of their game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor's family was in attendance for the ceremony, but the event was criticized by the fanbase for the lack of advance notice and grandeur.
