WASHINGTON — Nearly three years after withdrawing from several events in Tokyo to prioritize her mental health, Simone Biles is bidding for a third Olympics at the Olympic trials.

She has experienced many changes since her last appearance on the Olympic stage.

Last year, the 2016 Olympic all-around champion made a stunning return to gymnastics, winning a record sixth world title.  She now attends therapy regularly, even during competition weeks, and is determined to focus on what she can control.

Gymnastics aside, the 27-year-old athlete and her longtime partner Jonathan Owens also tied the knot last year.

Who is Simone Biles married to?

Simone Biles married Jonathan Owens in April 2023 at a courthouse in Houston.

The couple met on a dating app called Raya in March 2020 and began dating shortly after. A few weeks after their marriage, they held a second ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

"I do ... officially Owens," the seven-time Olympic medalist wrote on Instagram at the time, sharing photos of the ceremony. In his own post, Owens called her "My person, forever."

Owens, who is an athlete himself, is currently playing as a safety for the Chicago Bears. The football player recently signed a two-year free agent contract after a season with the Green Bay Packers. Before that, Owens played for the Houston Texans.

The athletic pair are building a house in the Houston suburbs that will be finished in late summer or early fall — after the Paris Games.

Owens, 28, is one of Biles' biggest supporters. Most recently, Owens was spotted at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, where his Olympian wife put on a stellar performance and cruised to a record ninth national title.

Support goes both ways for the couple.

During the 2024 NFL season, Biles was a frequent face in the Green Bay Packers' stadium, supporting her football husband as his team attempted a bid for the Super Bowl.

As the Olympic Games near, it's likely we'll continue to see Owens on the stands supporting Biles.

Her next trip before getting a ticket to Paris is later this month at the Olympic trials.

If Biles makes the team, which is highly likely, she will become the first American woman to make three Olympics gymnastics teams since Dominque Dawes.
