Join local fans to watch Noah Lyles at Alexandria City High School

Alexandria City Public Schools, Alexandria City Government and the Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation are hosting a watch party on Aug. 8.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Alexandria native Noah Lyles is officially the fastest man in the world — and his hometown is coming together to support him.

Lyles won the Olympic 100 meters by .005 seconds Sunday, waiting some 30 seconds after the finish of an excruciatingly close sprint to find out he'd beaten Kishane Thompson of Jamaica.

Now, Alexandria City Public Schools is hosting a watch party during the men’s 200 meter final Aug. 8, to watch and celebrate Lyles during his best event.

The watch party is being held in partnership with the Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation and the city government and is being held in Lyles’ own former high school auditorium, at Alexandria City High School, at 1 p.m.

Local fans can RSVP online by Aug. 6. The flier for the event states that an RSVP is strongly encouraged, and anyone who attends should bring photo ID.
