WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- We can now put Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final down in the history books.
Even though we didn't get the outcome we wanted, there were still some pretty memorable moments.
Those moments included a crazy pregame show, a Tom Wilson hit, and a thrilling finish between two teams that have are both seeking their first Stanley Cup.
1. Pregame Show
If you missed this very Vegas-like show, you should definitely go back to see what all the excitement was about.
From an EDM drumline, to a full blown knight battle performance, to Michael Buffer giving the crown one good, "Let's get ready to rumble!"
There are a lot of pregame shows that have been over the top, but this one took the cake.
2. Holtby did Holtby things
Before Game 1 of the Final, Braden Holtby was responsible for shutting out opponents two games in a row.
This game, not so much.
However, Holtby did have some good saves like the one pictured above, where he helped deflect the puck in the second period off the tip of his stick in a diving save.
3. Fleury scores on himself
Speaking of goalies, Marc-Andre Fleury showed up big for the wrong team.
In the particular play seen above, Fleury actually scored one for the Caps, not really knowing where the puck was on the ice, and backing it into the net with his pad.
But when it mattered most, he stopped the Caps from scoring at the end of the third period, to keep the Golden Knights on top.
4. It wouldn't be a game if Wilson didn't hit someone
If I told you that Tom Wilson was going to give someone a hard hit causing him to go into the penalty box, you'd probably say, "Thanks, Captain Obvious."
At this point it is so cliche to say that Wilson took another cheap shot.
In this particular play he landed a blind-sided hit on Jonathan Marchessault after he already got rid of the puck near center ice.
Classic Tom.
Wilson was called for interference for the hit.
5. The "should've-been" goal
This was the play that caused so many Caps fans to shake their head in disappointment.
With just seconds left in the game, six skaters on the ice and a pulled goalie, the Caps had the PERFECT opportunity to tie the game at 5-5.
Capitals' forward Lars Eller had the puck go off the end of his stick blade with a wide-open net in front of him after a stick check that caused him to miss the shot.
You could hear the moans from all of the fans in Capital One Arena, making the loss real.
