Washington Commanders Kevon Seymour suspended 6 games without pay for 'violating the NFL’s Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy'

According to a spokesperson with the NFL, Seymour was suspended for six games without pay.

WASHINGTON — Washington Commanders reserve cornerback Kevon Seymour has been suspended for reportedly violating the NFL's policy regarding performance-enhancing substances. 

According to a spokesperson with the NFL, Seymour was suspended for six games without pay. The suspension means Seymour will not be able to play or practice with the Commanders until Dec 2.

Seymour's suspension means he will miss games against the Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans. 

Little information has been released by the NFL, including how Seymour violated the policy. 

According to the NFL Players Association website, all players receive one annual Performance Enhancing Substance (PES) test during training camp. However, players face random PES testing any day of the year. During the offseason, players can be tested up to six times and have 24 hours to complete the tests following notification. 

The PES annual tests including the following substances, according the the NFLPA:

  • Anabolic/Androgenic Steroids (e.g., testosterone, nandrolone, turinabol)
  • Protein and Peptide Hormones (e.g., hGH, GHRP, BPC 157)
  • Anti-estrogenic Agents (e.g., tamoxifen)
  • Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMS) (e.g., Ostarine)
  • Diuretics (e.g., chlorothiazide)
  • Stimulants (e.g., amphetamines, Ritalin, ephedrine)
  • Gene Doping (e.g., GW1516)
