NFLPA report cards released, Washington Commanders finish dead last

The team received an F- for its treatment of families and the conditions of its locker room.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Players have once again voted the Washington Commanders as the worst team in the NFL to work for-- for the second year in a row. It is ranked #32 out of 32 teams, according to a newly released survey.

On Wednesday, the NFL Players Association released its team-by-team report cards, which evaluates players' working conditions and environments. Over 1,700 players participated in the survey between August and November of 2023, which represents around 77% of players in the league.

The Commanders received the lowest grades in the league, with failing scores for treatment of families, locker and training room conditions, training staff, and team travel. Officials say Washington is one of 12 teams that do not provide a family room during games and one of seven teams that do not provide daycare support for players' children on gameday. The team's locker room is also said to be very small and in desperate need of renovation, with multiple sewage leaks reported. And the training room is significantly understaffed, with only 52% of players saying they receive an adequate amount of one-on-one treatment time for injury recovery and prevention. Even equipment in the weight and training rooms was described as below the standards required of a professional sports franchise.

Repeat Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, ranked just above the Commanders in 31st place on the list.

The Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars rounded out the top five in terms of overall grades.

Although Washington received low marks across the board in general, the one bright spot for the club is the players’ ranking of the Commanders strength coaches, with 98% of players saying that they get the best possible individualized plan.
