Commanders practice includes a new face for the first time

Lattimore was acquired by the Commanders in a trade with the Saints Nov. 5 and has been dealing with a hamstring injury since.

ASHBURN, Va. — The Commanders are hoping to put an end to a three-game losing streak this Sunday at Northwest Stadium against the Titans. Washington may have some extra firepower on defense.

Marshon Lattimore suited up for his first practice since he was traded to the Commanders 22 days ago. According to the injury report, Lattimore was limited Wednesday. The four-time pro bowler has been dealing with a hamstring injury.

Coach Dan Quinn said he’s optimistic Lattimore could make his debut against the Titans. He also said the bye week next week wouldn’t determine when Lattimore would play. If he’s ready before the bye, he will play.

It’s been a long ramp up period for Lattimore both mentally and physically since he got here in early November.

“The communication in the system, those are the things he’s already done in the walkthrough," Quinn said. "About getting comfortable and really, the confidence in it. Going through the process with the medical staff and his engagement in that too, because that’s part of our protecting the team is also the player and making sure he’s safe and when he is ready to go, that there’s no limitations on that.”

Quarterback Jayden Daniels added that he was happy to add Lattimore to the playing field, but that it wouldn't change how he prepares for a game.

“I mean he’s a very good player so it’s good to see him out there practicing and doing his thing, but I just got to go out there and focus on what we can control," Daniels said. "When he’s ready to go, he’s going to be ready to go. But now it’s like hey, how can I get this offense going?”

Kicker Austin Seibert was placed on injured reserve after Quinn said he reported a groin injury on Monday, which is different from the hip injury that kept him out against the Eagles and Steelers.

The only kicker at practice Wednesday was Zane Gonzalez, who is still listed as on the practice squad. He is three for three in field goal tries for the Commanders this season.

Andrew Wylie and Austin Ekeler both sat out practice Wedneesday after suffering concussions Sunday.
