Injury Report: Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. ‘trending up’; defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. out against Panthers

The final practice and injury report for the Washington Commanders’ home game against the Carolina Panthers has some significant names on it.

ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Commanders missed running back Brian Robinson Jr. in their Week six loss to the Baltimore Ravens. As they near their Week seven matchup against the Carolina Panthers, they may get Robinson back.

“Brian had a good week and so everything's trending up,” Washington head coach Dan Quinn said on Friday. “We'll take him through tomorrow and into the game and see what it looks like. But it was a hard miss last week, and so it's good to see him trending in the right spots and we'll see him make sure recoveries and all the stuff into tomorrow and into the game."

Officially, Robinson is listed as questionable with the same knee issue that cost him last week’s game.

Defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. (rib) started the game against the Ravens, but was injured, and will have to sit out this weekend’s game because of it. Safety Tyler Owens’ shin problem will continue for another week as he’s also been ruled out for Sunday afternoon.

Along with Robinson, defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee) and linebacker Jordan Magee (knee) are both questionable.

Magee started the season on injured reserve but had his 21-day window to return opened on October 2. That means that he doesn’t necessarily have to return to the active roster for this game, but will have to shortly after that if not before.

The Commanders’ injury report is fairly long with other key players like guard Nick Allegretti (ankle) and center Tyler Biadasz (thumb) listed, but both have been cleared for Sunday as was linebacker Frankie Luvu (toe) who will be a team captain facing his former Panthers squad.

For Carolina, rookie running back Jonathan Brooks (knee) was able to practice for the first time this season this week but will not participate in the game.

Linebackers Claudin Cherelus (hamstring), Jon Rhattigan (knee/illness), and Josey Jewell (hamstring/groin), offensive tackle Taylor Moton (elbow), and defensive end A’Shawn Robinson (knee) are all ruled out as well.

Meanwhile, Panthers outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (shoulder), defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy (ankle), and safety Sam Franklin Jr. (foot) are all doubtful.

Finally, cornerback Dane Jackson (hamstring), receivers Diontae Johnson (ankle) and David Moore (knee), offensive tackle Yosh Nijman (knee), defensive end LaBryan Ray (ankle/knee), and tight end Tommy Tremble (concussion) are all questionable for Carolina.

Everyone else on the Panthers’ active roster is expected to be active including offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu (elbow) and tight end Ian Thomas (hip).

Washington hosts Carolina on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET and can be watched on WUSA9 in the Washington D.C. area.
