WASHINGTON — The Washington Commanders have reached a verbal agreement with former Atlanta Falcons head coach and Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, to become the new head coach for the Washington Commanders.
Quinn just completed his third season with the Cowboys. He has 19 years of NFL coaching experience. But, before he made it to the big leagues, Quinn was a local legend in his own right.
The new Commanders coach attended Division III Salisbury University and played as a defensive lineman from 1990 to 1993. During his time there, he rose through the ranks and became co-captain in both his junior and senior seasons.
After college, Quinn immediately jumped into coaching, starting at William and Mary in 1994. The following year, he coached at the Virginia Military Institute, eventually moving on to the professional ranks, where he won an NFC title as head coach of the Falcons in 2016.
In 2005, Quinn was inducted into his alma mater's Athletics Hall of Fame. Fast forward to 2024, Quinn will be donning more burgundy and gold as head coach of the Commanders.
