BALTIMORE — After both teams came up with impressive wins on Sunday, the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens turn their attention toward a big time faceoff. It's been four years since the two teams last met.
This is only the second time a Washington team has played against the Ravens' star quarterback, Lamar Jackson. It's the first time the Ravens have played against a team called the Commanders (In 2020, the Washington franchise was known by the transitional moniker, the Washington Football Team).
On Oct. 4, 2020, the Burgundy and Gold lost its matchup against Jackson and the Ravens by a final score of 31-17. In that game, Jackson ran for a 50-yard touchdown and threw for two scores. The Ravens took control early and did not let up.
In the loss, Washington's then-quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. went 32 for 45 for a career-high 314 yards.
Historically speaking, going back to 1997, Washington and Baltimore have played each other seven times. Baltimore has a one-game lead in the series overall.
Heading into Baltimore on Sunday, the Commanders are big underdogs. While the Commanders and Jayden Daniels are on a four-game winning streak, and are 4-1 for the first time since 2008, they open the week as 6.5-point underdogs against the Ravens.
Meanwhile, Jackson and the Ravens have won two in a row after an 0-2 start this season. It's sure to be an exciting matchup between the Commanders' rising star in Daniels, and reigning league MVP in Jackson
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. You can watch every snap of the action right here on WUSA9, the official television station of the Washington Commanders.
