ASHBURN, Va. — Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves is entering year seven.
There were days when he thought he wouldn’t make year one. He’s been on the Eagles and Commanders rosters, but there was a time when he was the final cut four straight seasons.
That's why he told me his time here is so special, not just with the team but the DMV. “I feel like I grew up with the fans here, I’ve been through all the good with them, I’ve been through the bad with them.”
In 2022, Reaves made his first Pro Bowl on special teams. The moment he was told was captured by Commanders TV. The emotional reaction of teammate punter Tress Way went viral.
The moment has not left Reaves.
“That was probably one of the most significant things that’s happened in my life. I think it speaks volumes to my teammates around me, the reaction that I got, and who I try to be in here everyday.”
Reaves thinks the new NFL kickoff rules will create some chaos, but his unit continues to figure out ways to make it work in their favor.
March 13th of this year Reaves signed a two year deal with Washington. This is where he would like to finish out his career.
