GREATER LANDOVER, Md. — It’s Commanders fans’ first taste of what’s new.
Ahead of the team's preseason finale against the Patriots, the team showed off its new batch of concessions, new views from the 1932 Club suites and an opportunity for season ticket holders to get closer to the players than ever before.
“We’re standing in our brand-new field-level Tunnel Club," said Trista Langdon, Senior Vice President of Operations, Guest Experience with the Commanders. "It’s a great experience where you can interact with the players. We’re right outside the home team locker room giving you direct access to the south field tunnel where the players exit and enter the field.”
On the 5th floor, the Commanders give some fans views they haven’t seen in quite some time at the new 1932 Club.
“A space of the building that hadn’t been online in many years," said Langdon. "We renovated the space, brought it up to date and brought it back in and it’s almost sold out and ready to go.”
The Commanders say the upgrades aren’t all for big spenders.
“A lot of just physical upkeep," said Langdon. "Paint, refreshing floors, fixing seat bottoms and just general maintenance keeping the building fresh.”
The Commanders say they listened to their fans when installing some of these updates. One of the big complaints from last season was long lines for food and drink, so they installed several stations where all you have to do is tap your credit card or scan a QR code, walk in, grab what you want to eat or drink and then leave. Paying for the items without actually seeing a cashier.
"Some of those things we feel are really going to move the needle is adding ways to get people back to the game faster," said Langdon. "We’ve tried to check a few boxes that we really hear feedback from and we’re really trying to make sure we made a difference in their experience.”
