CLEMMONS, N.C. — The Washington Commanders are getting ready to report for training camp in Ashburn, Virginia. The veterans aren't due for camp until July 23. That includes Defensive End K.J. Henry.
Henry is entering his second year in the NFL. Before camp, he is busy giving back. Over the weekend Henry was in his hometown of Clemmons, North Carolina hosting a celebrity basketball game and football camp. It was all to benefit a nonprofit organization called Help Hope Live. The organization helps raise funds to cover medical bills and other expenses.
Henry said it was important that he gives back to his community.
"Honestly there were just so many that gave back to me when I was growing up. I had a lot of great experiences, whether it be with the Wake Forest football team, or a lot of different camps and Chris Paul events. I just felt like it was very easy for me to love sports when I was growing up. I want to give that feeling to some kids around here," he said.
