Tickets to the Redskins' first playoff game in three years were gone in 13 minutes. One of the most loyal fans around didn't snag any but still plans to go to the game.
It wouldn't be the first time life-long Redskins fan Prescott Engle has had to watch his team under unusual circumstances. When the Redskins played in Super Bowl XVII, Engle was in the Army stationed in El Salvador when his commander surprised him with a chopper flight to Panama.
"It's a moment I'll never forget," said Engle.
In a Panama restaurant, they watched the skins win their first Super Bowl.
"For a kid that was a long way from home, this was a big deal," said Engle.
In Engle's office is a blown up picture of John Riggins, AKA "The Diesel" shaking off a Miami defender for the winning 43-yard touchdown.
Engle, now president of an Insurance group in Leesburg, is thrilled his team has made it to the playoffs.
He wasn't able to get tickets to the first playoff game against Green Bay but plans to buy some on StubHub.
"We're relevant for one more week!"
Engle says he's never been a fair weather fan. He has stuck by the Redskins through bad and good seasons and says he always will.
The only Redskins games Engle ever missed were those played when he was stationed overseas and had no access to television. Imagine that.
