Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - All LeBron James could do was watch on the bench as Brooklyn seized control in the second overtime.

The Nets are still unbeaten in 2014.

Joe Johnson had 22 of his 32 points in the first quarter, Paul Pierce added 23 and the Nets defeated the Miami Heat 104-95 on Friday night.

James was whistled for his sixth and final foul with 36 seconds left in the first overtime. With the Heat trailing 93-91, James drove on Shaun Livingston, but was called for an offensive foul after putting his shoulder into him.

It was the fourth regular-season game in his career that James fouled out.

Norris Cole nailed a game-tying jumper with 3.3 seconds in the extra session to force a second overtime, where Brooklyn scored the first 11 points to seal the outcome.

Livingston tallied 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks for the Nets, who have won five in a row. Kevin Garnett chipped in with 12 points and 10 boards in the triumph.

James had 36 points on 12-of-21 shooting to go with seven rebounds and five assists for Miami, which has dropped two straight. Cole had 18 points and seven assists in defeat.

Dwyane Wade was a healthy scratch for the Heat.

Cole's steal and layup capped a 13-2 Miami run to claw the Heat within 80-79 with 7:04 left in regulation.

During that Heat surge, tempers flared between the teams. With James pushing the ball up the floor, he was called for an offensive foul after using his left arm to push off of Andrei Kirilenko. As James continued into the paint, Mirza Teletovic briefly wrapped his arms around James' neck before pulling them back because the play was whistled dead. James immediately got up and reacted with anger before being pushed away from Teletovic by his teammates.

Livingston and Pierce both split a pair from the line before Livingston knocked down a jumper to extend the Nets margin back to 84-79.

James then scored four straight points and a Cole 3 with 2:10 on the clock gave Miami its first lead, 86-84, since it led 32-30 late in the first quarter.

Pierce hit a straightaway trey at the other end before James put Miami back in front with 1:22 to go with an off-balanced running bank shot in the paint. Johnson then banked in a short jumper for his first field goal of the second half to give Brooklyn an 89-88 edge with 1:03 left.

James split a pair of foul shots to tie the score with 40.8 ticks remaining and Pierce was short on a step-back 3-pointer at the horn.

Earlier, Johnson hit his first eight shots from the floor and finished 9-of-10 in the opening frame. He also knocked down four triples as the Nets led 33-32 after a quarter of play. James had 16 points in the first.

Brooklyn closed the half on an 8-0 flurry to take a 53-45 advantage into the break and the Nets headed into the fourth with a 76-64 cushion.
