WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Move over New York City, Washington D.C. is the new basketball mecca. Tom Ziller of SB*Nation published
as a part of his season preview and one item Ziller studied was the parts of the country that produce the most NBA players. The main takeaway from Ziller's study is that DC residents can ball.
VIA SB*NATION: "With 68 current and former players born in Washington, the District's rate per million of current resident is around 125. That's five times higher than the nearest state. It's so high that it's eyebrow-raising, in fact".
According to Ziller, D.C. benefits from being completely urban and having a largely black population. Ziller also adds a caveat that many people born in he District are actually from Virginia or Maryland (Kevin Durant), something the study doesn't account for.
Either way, if LeBron is really starting the "I'm coming home"trend, then the Wizards will have no problem filling out a roster.
