Here's how the rest of the Virginia High School League football playoffs are changing after Hayfield withdrew

With the Hayfield Hawks gone, the schedule has shifted.

VIRGINIA, USA — Hayfield Secondary School is officially out of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) playoffs, and tonight’s game against Fairfax is off. But it won’t just affect this game.

With no game against Hayfield Tuesday, Fairfax will advance to the region finals. Here’s how the rest of the postseason schedule has changed:

Second Round 
Tuesday, Nov. 26: Lake Braddock vs. West Springfield
7 p.m. at Lake Braddock

Region Finals
Saturday, Nov. 30: Fairfax vs. winner of Lake Braddock vs. West Springfield
Time to be announced, location will be at played the winner’s home stadium

State Semifinals
Saturday, Dec. 7
Time to be announced, location to be announced

State Finals
Saturday, Dec. 14 
5 p.m. at James Madison University

The schedule change is because Hayfield’s principal pulled the school out of the playoffs amid a recruitment scandal, legal decisions and boycott threats. The highly-ranked high school football team and the school administration is currently being investigated by Fairfax County Public Schools over the alleged recruitment violations.
