CLIFTON, Va. (WUSA 9) -- The Centreville Wildcats are coming into the 2014 football season with 16 returning starters and are ranked No. 5 in USA Today's preseason football rankings.
Head coach Chris Haddock said he has high expectations for the season, but there is still a lot of work to do.
"We still have to see how the dynamic of the group will come together," Haddock said. "We have some pretty stand out kids."
He said the team has been preparing for the season by conditioning and going to the weight room. Haddock said the team is excited for the season.
"We have an opportunity to win a lot of games this season," Haddock said.
With match-ups against Gonzaga and Westfield, Haddock said the team has a tough schedule. He said the team recognizes the quality of the other programs and is looking forward to the fun rivalry games.
"We are excited for the opportunity to get back out there and play," Haddock said.
Centreville's first game is against USA Today's No. 25 pick Gonzaga at 8 p.m., Sept. 5 at Centreville High School.
