Joint practice with the Washington Commanders and New York Jets

The two teams met in New Jersey to get their final reps in before they meet in the preseason

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Commanders took to the practice field today, but this one was unfamiliar. Instead of being surrounded by burgundy and gold, green and white adorned the accommodations around them.

They're in Florham Park, New Jersey, home of the New York Jets and their training facility. The Commanders will step into MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets on Saturday for the preseason opener.

Practice ran nearly two hours in the rain, giving the Commanders something to contend with, other than extreme heat.

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels looked the part during the joint practice, drawing the praise of one of the game's top cornerbacks.

"He gon' be nice," third-year Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner said. "I just told him, you know, you're gon' be real good."

Commanders owner Josh Harris was on hand to watch his team compete in the meadowlands, as well.

Because of the weather, the Jets were extra cautious with their quarterback, future hall of famer Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers didn't suit up, but Commanders rookie cornerback Mike Sainristil was seeking some wisdom from the veteran QB.

"He kinda was giving me tips on how to read quarterbacks, and what they're looking at from an offensive standpoint, and how guys are lined up," said Sainristil

The players definitely didn't enjoy the weather, as Jahan Dotson said, "They told me it was going to happen, but I was ready... as in ready to go inside."
