WASHINGTON (WUSA9)-- The University of Maryland confirmed Friday that it had received multiple subpoenas in relation to the FBI's ongoing investigation of corruption within college basketball.
According to a statement from the University, the first subpoena came on March 15, 2018, followed by a second subpoena June 29, 2018.
"The University complied with the subpoenas by providing responsive records. None of the responsive records shows evidence of any violations of applicable laws or NCAA bylaws by University coaches, staff or players. The University has cooperated and will continue to cooperate fully with the ongoing federal investigation," the University said in their statement.
The first subpoena requested documents related to contact between Maryland assistant coach Orlando "Bino" Ranson, an unnamed Maryland player and sports agent Christian Dawkins. Dawkins is currently facing charges for wire fraud
247Sports reported that the player in question was former Terp Diamond Stone, currently playing in the G League. Stone was previously cited as one of many student-athletes to receive money from Dawkin's agency.
The second subpoena summoned Maryland officials to court on July 3 in New York, along with the turnover of any documents related to contact between Ranson and former Maryland recruit Silvio De Sousa. De Sousa currently plays for the University of Kansas.
Maryland isn't the first school to be subpoenaed in the investigation, as multiple coaches from other Power Five Schools were arrested last year due to the investigation.
