TOWSON, Md. (WUSA9) -- Baltimore County Police say officers arrested a Baltimore Ravens running back on Wednesday morning after suspecting him of driving under the influence.
According to police, 23-year-old Bernard Hayward Pierce was stopped shortly before 2 a.m. for speeding at Dulaney Valley Road and I-695 in Towson.
Pierce was driving a 2014 Ford Mustang at 55 mph in a 30 mph zone, say police. The officer asked Pierce to get out of the Mustang because he suspected Pirece had been driving. According to police, Pierce failed field sobriety tests. He was then arrested and taken to the station for processing.
Police note that Pierce was cooperative with officers.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, exceeding maximum speed: 55 Mph in a posted 30 Mph zone, driving vehicle in excess of reasonable and prudent speed on a highway.
Pierce was released per Baltimore County Police Department procedures, which allow for a person arrested for DUI to be released to a responsible adult if he or she is a Maryland resident, a sober adult can pick the person up and take responsibility for the person within two hours, the person has no previous charges for DUI or failure to appear in court.
