NEW YORK (AP) - With banners celebrating the Nets and Jay-Z's concert sellout streak over his shoulder, ACC Commissioner John Swofford has announced that the league's men's basketball tournament is coming to Brooklyn.
The Atlantic Coast Conference will crown its champion at Barclays Center in 2017 and '18 under a deal made official Wednesday.
The Atlantic 10 was scheduled to play its tournament there through 2017. But it will move in exchange for playing an ACC/A-10 doubleheader at Barclays during the 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. The A-10 tournament will return to Barclays for three years starting in 2019.
Swofford notes that the ACC, with its roots in the South, already has a toehold in the "media capital" of New York, including its tie-in to the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
