Verify: Farmers Insurance commercials, Cali. travel ban

QUESTION #1:

Are the commercials for Farmers Insurance based on real claims?

ANSWER #1:

We can verify this is true.

SOURCES #1:

Carly Kraft, Farmers Insurance

PROCESS #1:

Carly Kraft with Farmers Insurance told our Verify team that all their commercials are based on real claims.

Some of the commercials are exaggerated for comedic effect. Kraft said the crazy claims go through a raffle system and the most outlandish claim gets turned into a commercial.

QUESTION #2:

Has the attorney general of California initiated a travel ban to Texas, Kentucky, South Dakota and Alabama?

ANSWER #2:

We can verify this is true. However, the ban doesn't affect everyone.

PROCESS #2:

There were four states already on a no-travel list: North Carolina, Kansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

But this ban , it isn't for everyone in the golden state. It only affects state employees doing non-essential travel for state business.

The California Attorney General says those states have laws that discriminate against LGBT persons.
