WASHINGTON D.C., DC — It's mostly dry in Ellicott City on this Memorial Day with only a slight chance for a shower or storm. But one year ago on May 27, 2018 it was a completely different story. The skies opened and dumped nearly 10" of rain in the area causing catastrophic flash flooding.
What We Remember
Cameras were snapping as flood waters raged through Ellicott City. The damage was unimaginable. Main Street looked more like a raging river.
Who We Remember
We remember Eddison Hermond, who died in the flood. He was a 39 year-old US Air Force veteran and Maryland National Guardsman. He was last seen at about 5:20 p.m. on May 27, 2018 in the area of La Palapa restaurant. His friends said he was trying to help a woman when witnesses said he was swept away by the fast-moving water.
