Suspect stabs victim with screwdriver, charged with assault. Victim refuses medical treatment

The suspect fled the scene, but was later arrested and charged with assault, police say.

WASHINGTON -- A suspect used a screwdriver as a deadly weapon, police said.

The suspect, 31-year-old Etsgenet Yohannes Akalu is believed to have approached the victim in the 1800 block of M St., Northwest on Friday.

According to police the suspect then stabbed the victim and fled the scene. The victim's injuries were non life-threatening, and refused medical treatment.

The suspect was arrested Friday and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.
