Rally marks 20th anniversary of MOVE bombing in Philadelphia

Neighbors of the militant group MOVE say they want to put the events of 20 years ago behind them.

In Philadelphia, Neighbors of the militant group MOVE say they want to put the events of 20 years ago behind them. On May 13th, 1985, they watched as Philadelphia police tried to evict armed members of the group by dropping a bomb onto their rowhouse. Today, residents watched group members and supporters marking the anniversary of the bombing that killed eleven members and consumed 61 adjacent homes in flames. Group members at the rally called for the release of the "MOVE Nine" who they say were wrongly convicted in the 1978 death of a police officer. Neighborhood residents have been battling the city over poorly constructed houses that were built to replaced the ones that had burned down. Last month, a federal jury awarded 24 families 530-thousand dollars apiece.
