Raccoon eats DC eagles Liberty and Justice's eggs

A raccoon got into the eagles' nest Tuesday night, dug up 2 eggs, cracked them open and seen on camera eating them, leaving empty shells behind

WASHINGTON — A raccoon got into D.C. eagles Liberty and Justice's nest Tuesday night, dug up their two eggs, cracked them open and can be seen on camera eating them, leaving empty shells behind, according to Eagle Cam log page. 

Justice, the male eagle, briefly disappeared last month, right before Liberty laid a pair of eggs.

The power eagle couple is back together nesting above the D.C. Police Academy in southeast D.C.
