Thousands march for Palestine on Freedom Plaza amid the war in Gaza

Thousands of protestors showed up to Freedom Plaza in support of a ceasefire in Gaza.

WASHINGTON D.C., DC — Today tens of thousands of people packed downtown D.C. to rally in support for Palestine. Protestors are calling on President Biden to end aid to Israel.

Palestinian flags and handmade posters filled the streets of D.C. as supporters rally for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“Standing with Palestine is just being on the right side of history,” said one protestor.

"Pull all the help out of Israel right now. Children are dying and they don’t feel like their lives are equal or even matter to anyone else watching them die off like little ants," said Esraa Elkholy.

People gathered, calling on President Biden to end aid to Israel immediately two days after the House approved over $14 billion in assistance. The President has said he plans to veto the GOP's approach.

“It’s absolutely atrocious," said protestor Mitch Boier.

"As American tax payers we need to be on the right side of justice and we need to protect these innocent children. They’re doing surgeries without anesthesia. I cant imagine there’s children in hospitals lined up from phosphorus bombs…bombs that are burning people and these are our tax paying dollars that are supporting this, it has to end," said Muawia Dames.

Khalid Alqaddumi with the Palestinian National Council says the U.S. should remain neutral in the conflict that dates back decades.

"The US is the most powerful country in the world, for them to send war ships to the middle east that ignites more violence."

"Why is it we don’t have that right to protect our land? Why is it the people who stole our land they have the right to protect the land that’s never even theirs," said another protestor.

According to the Associated Press, the Palestinian death toll in Gaza has reached more than 9,000.
