WASHINGTON — The first vice presidential debate between Democratic candidate Tim Walz and Republican candidate J.D. Vance is on Tuesday..
You can watch the debate at home right here on WUSA9, but if you want to watch the Minnesota governor and Ohio senator go head-to-head outside your home, these bars and restaurants are hosting watch parties across D.C.
Here's where to head Tuesday night in the District:
Union Pub
Location: 201 Massachusetts Ave NE
Union Pub will be serving both Tim Walz and J.D. Vance themed drinks, the Return of the Dirty Walz and J.D.’s Couch Potato Martini. They’ll also serve what they’re calling Springfield Specials: “They’re Eating The Dogs” — mini corndogs — and “They’re Eating The Cats” — a “whisker” sour.
Metrobar
Location: 640 Rhode Island Ave. NE
Metrobar will have the debate playing on their 20-foot projector.
Busboys & Poets
All locations: 14th and V Street, 450 K Street, Brookland, Takoma, Anacostia, Hyattsville, Shirlington, Columbia
Busboys & Poets will have drink specials all night. Some locations are being co-hosted by political groups.
Johnny Pistolas
Location: 2333 18th St. NW
Johnny Pistolas will be serving $10 drink specials all night, including their Filibuster Buzz, Bipartisan Breeze and Swing State Sangria.
Shaws Tavern
Location: 520 Florida Ave. NW
Shaw’s Tavern will have a special debate menu and will be showing the debate on both floors and the patio with sound. Reservations are required for tables and the bar is first-come first-serve.
Political Patties
Location: 913 U St. NW
Political Patties is serving tacos and tequila for debate night. All three levels of the bar will be open.
Madhatter
Location: 1319 Connecticut Ave. NW
Madhatter will be serving $5 red, white and blue Jell-O shots, $8 American smash burgers and half price bottles of wine for debate night, along with their regular Tuesday specials.
Wunder Garten
Location: 1101 First St. NE
Wunder Garten will be serving specialty cocktails.
DC9 Nightclub
Location: 1940 9th St. NW
DC9’s program begins at 8 p.m., but they recommend getting there around 7 p.m. if you’re ordering food.
