Trump visits Richmond for 'Get Out the Vote' rally

The former president delivered remarks Saturday night.

RICHMOND, Va. — Former President Donald Trump visited Richmond on Saturday.

Several hundred people lined up in rainy weather for Trump's "Get Out the Vote" rally at the Greater Richmond Convention Center ahead of Super Tuesday, when 16 states — including Virginia — will hold primary elections.

During his speech, the former president called November 5th, the biggest day in the history of our country.

"Our country is being destroyed by an incompetent President, a corrupt president, and the worst president we've ever had," said Trump.

The former president spent much of his speech focused on immigration and border policies.

"We've got 15, 16 million people [who] came in. And they [are] from prisons, jails, mental institutions. They're terrorists.  They're drug dealers," said Trump. "We are really going to be a different country. We have to have it stopped."

Trump added, "If I'm re-elected, instead of sending Texas a restraining order, I will send them reinforcement."

In February, the U.S. ordered a drone air strike on a militia group in Baghdad, who were responsible for "directly planning and participating in attacks" on American troops in the region. On Saturday, Trump said "you don't have to bomb, we can get it done with a phone call."

Trump's event comes after Nikki Haley, former UN Ambassador and Republican presidential candidate, held at rally at the Madison Hotel in D.C. on Friday.  She also made campaign stops in Richmond and Falls Church.

Trump leads Haley in the delegate count. The former president has 244 delegates to Haley's 24 delegates. Haley and her campaign hope D.C. will hand her a decisive win. The city's 19 delegates are on the line as D.C. Republicans began primary voting on Friday. A Republican presidential candidate needs 1215 delegates to secure the Presidential nomination.
