LA PLATA, Md. — A crash involving a police officer is being investigated in Charles County.

The crash happened Tuesday morning in the area of Route 301 and Port Tobacco Road in La Plata, Maryland.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown said that the crash is being investigated by the Independent Investigations Division (IID) from the Office of the Attorney General in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office told WUSA9 that the crash happened during a police chase that started in Virginia. Maryland State Police are handling the crash, the office said. Two people were inside of the car during the time of the crash.
