FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Police arrested an 18-year-old from Fairfax County Tuesday after he posted threats on social media directed at a Loudoun County middle school. Shane Lucas is charged with threats of bodily injury or death to persons on school property.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Lucas after learning of a social media post showing a gun and threatening statements towards Farmwell Station Middle School in Ashburn. Lucas was identified by LCSO Detectives as the poster and located at home on Tuesday.
During the investigation, it was determined the photo of the gun had been pulled from the internet. Detectives searched Lucas' home and did not find any firearms.
After Farmwell Station Middle School learned of the threatening post Tuesday morning, staff and Loudoun County Public School Safety and Security restricted entrance to the school, and additional members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer Unit were on the campus out of an abundance of caution.
Lucas is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond, facing felony charges.
