Dog stolen from porch in Prince George's County

Police released video showing the suspect walking onto the porch and approaching the small dog.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. — Police are asking for the public's help finding a woman caught on camera stealing a dog from a porch in Prince George's County.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department (PGCPD), a 5-year-old Dachshund, named Canela, was taken from a home in District Heights on Monday, March 6. Officers say the dog was taken just after 5:30 a.m. from the home in the 6200 block of Foster Street.

Police released video showing a person walking onto the porch and approaching the small dog. Investigators say the woman took the pet, but the video ends before the woman allegedly grabbed the dog.

In the video, the woman can be heard telling the dog to "come on." The dog appears to get defensive and growl at the woman, who can be heard telling Canela "no" and to sit.

Police say they believe there is a second suspect involved in Canelo's theft.
