WALDORF, Md. (WUSA9) -- A small fire was set in a trash can at John Hanson Middle School in Waldorf on Wednesday, according to fire investigators.
A student discovered the fire in a boys' bathroom shortly before 2:25 p.m., say officials with the Maryland state fire marshal's office. Staff members were able to put out the fire, which caused $50 in damage.
Investigators determined that something was set on fire inside of a trash can.
The investigation is ongoing.
