WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Post has endorsed Anthony Brown for Maryland's next governor.

Brown, the state's Democratic lieutenant governor, is running against Republican Larry Hogan, who served as appointments secretary under former Gov. Robert Ehrlich.

The Post's editorial board writes that while neither Brown nor Hogan "seems a good bet to inspire Maryland voters" to turn out to the polls, Brown is the more knowledgeable and nimble politician, and would make a better governor.

The Post writes that Maryland's disastrous rollout of the state's health-care exchange was mismanaged under Brown's watch, but that he has more experience and a "more substantial record of achievement in public life" than Hogan.

The Post also says Hogan's economic plan for Maryland "amounts to mush."

Brown and Hogan are set to debate Monday in Arlington, Va. The had their first TV debate earlier this month.
