Kevin Durant's contract with the Golden State Warriors is for two years, $54 million, with a player option for the second year.
But the newest Warrior said not to read anything into that "option".
"I plan on being here," Durant said. "I don't want to go through that again."
"That" is the free agency process that was the story of the season for Durant, that ramped up right after the NBA Finals.
Because of the rise in the salary cap, Durant will opt out of the second season and sign a long-term deal with Golden State that will pay him even more per season. But if he's being honest -- and there's no reason to believe he's not -- he plans on being with the Warriors for the long term.
