WASHINGTON (AP/WUSA9) - More than 30,000 participated in the Army Ten-Miler race over the weekend.
Sunday's race began and ended at the Pentagon, and the course went past the monuments in Washington including the Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the Washington Memorial.
The first group to take off was the wounded warriors. One was Retired Army Captain Pat Horan who participated for the 7th time riding his recumbent trike. In 2007, Horan suffered a traumatic brain injury from being shot in the head while serving in Iraq. He had to learn to walk and talk again, and continues improving with therapy at Walter Read Medical Center.
