WASHINGTON D.C., DC — A DC woman is missing teeth after she says she was attacked while walking with her daughter on the street.
It happened along the 600 Block of Pennsylvania Ave. SE on Monday.
Emily Lebowitz told WUSA9 it was a normal day for her. She was leaving the gym when out of nowhere she was assaulted. Surveillance video from a nearby business shows the man Lebowitz said attacked her on Monday.
“Next thing I know I felt like I was hit by a ton of bricks. I didn't know what happened. I didn't see anything. I just was down. I felt my mouth, felt my teeth break,” she said.
The video shows him stumbling across the street, bags in tow. Emily said he didn’t take anything from her, but the fall she took left her scarred, both physically and mentally.
“When I fell, I shattered one tooth, and then the other one broke. I'm gonna have to get extractions, implants, and crowns and it's not just a quick thing; it's over, you know, a year ever,” Lebowitz said.
She said a bystander attempted to follow the suspect while another woman sat with her 5-year-old daughter.
“We hear about random acts of violence in the city, you know, you never think it's going to happen to you. I am still shocked that it did,” she added.
Emily and her husband said they’re concerned about the mental state of the person who attacked her and think the person may have some mental challenges, but still want that person held accountable. If you recognize the person in that video, call police right away.
