MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Crews were out on the Potomac River Tuesday afternoon, searching for a possible body in the water in the area of the Heritage Trail.
Officials said someone passing by saw it and reported it, which prompted the search but as of 4:50 p.m., there was no sign of it. (Update: Later Tuesday night, officials said they called off the search.)
Some search and rescue crews got out of their boats and into the water during the search, and others used long poles to prod the water, officials said.
