DALE CITY, Va. — A shooting in Dale City has left a 23-year-old woman dead early Friday, sparking a homicide investigation for the police department.
Officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to Brickwood Drive and Bronson Court just after 2 a.m. after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they found Egypt Zapporah Carter of Burlington, North Carolina, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound inside of a vehicle.
The woman was pronounced dead at the location. Preliminary investigation revealed Carter was sitting in her car with her dog when she was fatally shot. The dog was not injured in the shooting and has since been turned over to Animal Control Officers.
The investigation into the deadly shooting is active and ongoing. As of now we don't know if Carter was visiting or if she was a resident here in the DMV area.
