Woman shoots and kills her friend over fentanyl pills, police say

Police claim the shooting stemmed from an earlier argument over fentanyl pills.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Virginia police are asking the community for help locating a woman who allegedly shot her friend over drugs.

On Thursday, officers responded to a wooded area in the 1200 block of Easy Street in Woodbridge to investigate a deadly shooting. The victim was later identified as 51-year-old Patricia Kathlean Beglin

When officers arrived at the scene they found Beglin lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives uncovered a possible motive behind the shooting. They claim the shooting stemmed from an earlier argument over fentanyl pills. Police identified the accused shooter as 37-year-old Karen Nicole Pollard, an acquaintance of Beglin.

Although police have a suspect, locating Pollard has been unsuccessful. Pollard is described as 5-foot-2, 120 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes.

As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone with information to call them at 703-792-5123. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
