WASHINGTON — It has been two years since a nightmare unfolded on Interstate 95 in Virginia after drivers became stuck for more than 24 hours due to a snowstorm.

In January 2022, snow caused a 40-mile stretch of the interstate to be covered in snow and slush that turned into an icepack, bringing drivers to a complete stop.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D) of Virginia was one of the many drivers stuck in their cars. For the 27 hours Kaine was stuck behind the wheel, he said all he had to eat and drink was a Dr. Pepper and an orange. While that may not seem like a lot, it is more food that many drivers kept in their cars.
