Warrenton mayor wins re-election by 11 votes

Once certified, Nevill will be re-elected for his second term after being first elected mayor in 2018.

WARRENTON, Va. — The incumbent in Warrenton's mayoral race bested his opponent by just 11 votes, according to the Virginia Department of Elections.

Mayor Carter Nevill won his bid for re-election against at-large Town Council Member Renard Carlos, with a total of 2,072 votes; Carlos collected a total of 2,061 votes with all eight precincts reporting. The race also had a total of 32 write-ins.

The election results still need to be certified, according to the elections site for the state. Once certified, Nevill will be re-elected for his second term after being first elected mayor in 2018.

Prior to his political career, Nevill, a Warrenton native, opened Carter and Spence, Ltd. in the former home of Hurst Jewelers on Main Street in Old Town Warrenton. He did this with his wife Kathleen after returning to the town in 2004. The couple remain active in Old Town and greater Warrenton/Fauquier preservation organizations.
