LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Virginia woman was sentenced last week for her 35th felony conviction.

Teenya Marie Tauzin, 35, was sentenced to four years in prison after she pleaded guilty in January to issuing a bad check.

According to prosecutors, Tauzin attempted to cash three checks totaling $3,725 at a Navy Federal Credit Union branch. The checks had come from her account at M&T Bank.

While verifying the checks, a credit union employee was alerted by M&T Bank that Tauzin's account had been closed and Tauzin was told to stop writing checks from that account.

In the last 12 years, prosecutors say Tauzin has been convicted of more than 30 felonies, including credit card theft, identity theft, forgery and uttering. Tauzin has also been convicted multiple times of violating her probation.

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Stephen E. Sincavage also imposed six moths of suspended time and order that Tuazin be placed on six months post release supervision.
