After chasing stray llama through the woods, Fairfax County Animal Protection locate owners

"We have a stray llama in the shelter's barn, and we'd like to get her back to her rightful home," officials shared.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — 6:20 p.m. Update: The owner of the llama, named Kolby, has been located.

Officials with Fairfax County Animal Protection are working to get one furry friend back to her rightful home.

"Quick, everyone check: are you missing a LLAMA??" they asked the public Tuesday. "Because we have a stray llama in the shelter's barn, and we'd like to get her back to her rightful home."

The dark, fuzzy, female llama was rescued by Fairfax County Animal Protection Police after she was spotted running on the Fairfax County Parkway near Popes Head Road.

"If you know whose llama this may be, please send them our way!" said Fairfax County Animal Protection staff.

In addition to the llama looking for her way back home, the shelter has a number of future furry family members to consider welcoming at your house.

According to the county, the Fairfax Animal Shelter is the county’s only open-access municipal shelter.

"We take in stray animals in need, owner surrendered companion animals when the owner is no longer willing or able to care for them, and animals who have been seized or taken into custody by Animal Protection Police," their website reads.
