WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Firefighters were able to get a town house fire under control in less than 20 minutes that happened in Woodbridge, Va. Sunday morning.
Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Firefighters responded to the report of a town house fire at 3511 Covered Bridge Ln. at 10:06 a.m.
Authorities said they got to the scene within minutes and reported smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters learned that fire was coming from the second floor and the entire attic.
They had the fire under control under less than 20 minutes, authorities said. Minor extension to the house next door was discovered and put out.
At the time of the fire, nobody was home, authorities said. A dog was inside, and saved. The American Red Cross was contacted and is helping the residents with temporary housing, authorities said.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
