STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A goat was found wandering in a Virginia neighborhood and law enforcement is looking for who he belongs to. A Stafford County Sheriff's Office deputy found the animal Sunday morning.
The sheriff's office said the goat was found roaming the streets in the Seven Lakes subdivision in Stafford over the weekend. They have named the animal Vincent van Goat. The sheriff's office has so far been unable to locate the owner of the goat, so they posted a photo on social media, hoping someone will claim him as their own.
"Our shelter does not have the resources for long term goat care, so we would appreciate any information on an owner," the department said in a Facebook post. So far, the post has more than 120 comments and 150 shares, with several concerned citizens offering suggestions for where to bring the goat. An owner has not come forward as of Tuesday morning.
Anyone who may have information to help the sheriff's office should call their nonemergency number at 540-658-4400.
