STAFFORD, Va. — A Stafford County Fire and Rescue employee has been accused of murdering his infant son Friday afternoon, sparking an investigation into the allegations.
Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office responded to Richland Road around 12:25 p.m. after a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive 3-month-old boy.
Life-saving measures were immediately attempted by deputies until Fire and Rescue arrived. The child was then taken to a local hospital, but he unfortunately died.
Through an investigation, which was started after the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, detectives charged the father on Saturday. Dallas Bowling, 19, is facing charges of second degree murder and felony child abuse, according to the sheriff's office. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
The Fire and Rescue department confirmed to WUSA9 that Bowling is one of their employees.
"SCFR is aware of the serious allegations of second degree murder and felony child abuse against an employee of the department," they say in a social post. "The allegations do not reflect the values of the department, which all members are expected to uphold."
Bowling has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The investigation is into the case is active and ongoing.
